What is a WART?

Warts are small bumps that are hard and grainy. It is a benign growth on the skin that is very itchy and rough. It is caused by a virus called Human Papillomavirus (HPV). This virus causes an excess amount of Keratin to be developed on the upper layer of the skin. It is transmitted by touch. If your immune system does not function properly you can see warts appearing as an indication of malfunctioning. It usually appears on our faces, fingers, hands, elbows, knees, or feet. Due to weight and pressure on the feet, it may be painful and have a burning sensation too. It can develop in both males and females.

What are the different types of warts?

Some types of warts caused by HPV include:

● Common Warts – Known generally as Verruca Vulgaris, these are hard-raised small bumps with rough surfaces just like a cauliflower. They are light brown or white in colour and commonly seen on the hands and knees.

● Flat Warts – These are also known as Verruca Plana with smooth flat lumps. These are generally seen on the face, hands, and lower legs.

● Mosaic Warts – They are clustered Verrucas seen on the soles of your feet and hands too.

● Filiform Warts – These are thread-like thin ones, generally seen on the face near the lips and eyelids.

● Plantar Warts – These are also called Verrucas. They are small hard bumps with tiny black dots over them, which are caused by internal bleeding and seen on the soles of human feet.

Genital Warts – The grey or off-white coloured warts usually shaped like cauliflower with grainy heads in the genital area are called Genital Warts.

Generally, these Warts may disappear on their own without any treatment, but it may feel uncomfortable or embarrassing if seen in visible areas. Also, you may not even know whether it is a Wart or a Mole.

At times even if you try treating warts they may recur again. But there is no reason to feel embarrassed or worried, as we at Perfection Cosmetics, Bolton are here for your help.
