How do I know if I’ve got genital warts?

Check the appearance – if you’ve got genital warts caused by HPV, take a note of how they look. They will appear around your genitals in a cluster, usually looking like a cauliflower type shape.
Check the colour – genital warts will look like a scatter of bumps and they’re typically darker compared to the rest of your skin.
Check how they feel – okay, so it might not sound like the nicest of ideas, running your hand across genital warts, but it’s a great way to double check that it is HPV. If the growth is different to the rest of your skin – smooth or flat or rough – then you know it’s something that needs your attention.
